Continuing their prestigious partnership, Wales Bonner x adidas are back to give the people what they want for SS24.
It goes without saying that Wales Bonner and adidas’ joint ventures have the fashion scene in a chokehold – with the viral Samba’s still doing the rounds on both the streets and our algorithms. Setting the bar significantly high for themselves with bangers like the Pony Leopard and Metallic Silver kicks (- not to mention the countless pieces of streamlined apparel), the partnership is praised for being defining moment across the last few years of footwear.
Of course, with any rise to success comes a certain speculation of longevity. However, judging by the alliance’s latest SS24 offering, it’s clear that this duo have absolutely no plans of slowing down. Debuting six new footwear offerings for the SS24 season – the SL76 and Samba Millennium are taking the spotlight like never before. Ready to take back their title of sneaker-of-the-summer-creators, let’s take a look at what’s going down.
Starting us off strong is two reconstructed takes on the classic SL 76. Considering the retro was already established as a lightweight silhouette, things have gotten even lighter, expressing an open-spaced mesh upper. Distressed suede hits continue the dominant colour schemes of Ash Blue and Yellow, contrasting a Black 3-Stripes, outer, and heel badge.
Besides the obvious difference in palettes, both SL 76’s distinguish themselves in the finer details. The Yellow iteration boasts a black tongue and inner, as well as a banana-hued midsole – whereas the Blue counterpart opts for a more monochromatic persona. Seamlessly capturing the shoe’s vintage essence whilst finesseing a contemporary construction; this SL 76 adaptation means serious business.

Next up, we have the recently revived Samba Millennium. Initially introduced back in 2009 (as a chunkier version of the football-centred OG), the model never really took off as intended. But what better grounds for a comeback than under the wing of the adi-Bonner duo? Kitted out with distinctively unique composition, both the Wonder White and Royal Blue flex their own steez despite visual similarities.
Contrast stitching on the toe box pays homage to the silhouette’s football heritage, continued into the sidewall emblem. Taking centre stage within both kicks, a split-theme depicts a mutual palette of brown and cream and a silky green inner liner for a touch of elegance. The stand out – stopping us right in our tracks – has to be the Royal Blue offering, bringing a striking faux pony hair segment as opposed to Wonder White’s tumbled base.

Making up the last of the SS24 Collection, it’s none other than the Samba. Did we really think that the alliance would give us a whole new batch of sneaker heat without bringing us back to where it all started? Keeping things in-line with how the silhouette typically appears, both pairs flaunt an immaculately smooth leather base adorned with textured suede hits. Inviting a very Wales Bonner edge, faux reptile leather enters at the 3-Stripes, heel tab and tongue, reminding us of the legacy at hand.
As with all of the footwear offerings at hand, the attention to detail is second to none. Blue insoles highlight accents of colour in the laces, effortlessly achieving that polished yet authentic steez. If these Sambas are anything like the last 14 pairs released by the collaboration, you’re going to want to set an alarm if you want a decent chance at copping.
