Pharrell doesn't really do quiet launches, but this one came close. While he was backstage at Dior's Summer 2027 women's show in Paris, there to support Jonathan Anderson, eagle-eyed fans clocked something new on his feet: a grey and neon green adidas VIRGINIA pair that nobody had seen before.
The shape gives it away. It's chunky, it's caged and it's clearly related to the Adistar Jellyfish, which is why the internet has already started calling it the Jellyfish V2. adidas hasn't confirmed that name (or anything else) yet, and early reports suggest the pair is still in the wear-testing stage.

If you thought the original was a lot of shoe, the sequel takes things up a notch. The proportions look even beefier, and the sculpted pieces that wrap the upper now stick out further, giving the whole thing a more 3D, almost armoured feel.

The colourway keeps things fairly calm with a grey base, then throws in hits of neon green so it doesn't fade into the background. We don't know yet whether this is the colourway that'll actually make it to shelves.

To understand the hype, you have to go back to January 2025, when Pharrell first sent the Jellyfish down the runway at Paris Fashion Week. It hit shelves that August and has been a fixture of his adidas output ever since.
Underneath all the drama sits a proper piece of adidas running history: the mid-2000s Adistar Cushion 3. Pharrell's team took that base, added a mesh upper and wrapped it in a tentacle-like cage of 3D-moulded TPU panels, which is where the name comes from. adiPRENE in the heel takes care of cushioning, and the VIRGINIA branding on the tongue and insole nods to Pharrell's own creative platform, named after his home state.

Since then, the Jellyfish has picked up a whole run of colourways, from 'Real Green' and 'Triple Black' to 'Crystal Sand', 'Chalk White' and 'Timber'. A V2 feels like the natural next step.
For now, there's no release date, UK price or style code for the Adistar Jellyfish V2. As it's still being wear-tested, it could be a while before we hear more.
Can't wait that long? The current Jellyfish line-up is available at adidas UK, and you can browse every pair we've covered in our Jellyfish search.
