Introducing Nike SB
Nike SB stands as a prime example of what’s possible when professional skateboarders are given the freedom to shape their own footwear. Although Nike first attempted to enter the skateboarding scene in the late '90s, early efforts failed to resonate with the core skate community.
That changed with the arrival of Sandy Bodecker, whose vision and leadership transformed Nike SB’s approach. The turning point came with the Nike SB Dunk, a reimagined version of the classic basketball silhouette, redesigned specifically for skateboarding. Bodecker introduced key features like a padded tongue and collar for protection, Zoom Air cushioning for impact absorption, and a grippy outsole for enhanced board feel, making it both functional and instantly appealing to skaters.
Since then, Nike SB has expanded with a range of celebrated models, including the Blazer, Stefan Janoski, Shane, Ishod, Bruin, and Pogo. Each one reflects the brand’s ongoing commitment to performance, creativity, and authenticity within skate culture.
