Introducing the Air Jordan 4
The Air Jordan 4, designed by Tinker Hatfield in 1989, followed the groundbreaking success of the AJ3 with an even greater emphasis on performance and innovation. Hatfield introduced Durabuck on the model, a synthetic leather that was lightweight, durable, cost-effective, and more environmentally conscious than traditional materials.
The sneaker also featured standout updates, including large panels of breathable mesh, enhanced tongue padding, and more robust plastic wings for support and style. One of its most unique elements was the customisable lacing system, allowing wearers to lace the shoe in up to 18 different ways for a truly personalised fit.
