Celebrations All Round! adidas SPZL Debuts Special Edition Goldie ‘Metalheadz’

In a fusion of music, art, and fashion, adidas SPZL is joining forces with the legendary Goldie to launch the exclusive Goldie SPZL ‘Metalheadz’.

Arriving in time for two milestone celebrations – the 30th anniversary of Metalheadz and the 10th anniversary of adidas SPZL – this drop serves as a tribute to both Goldie’s influential career and the enduring legacy of the adidas Spezial line. At the heart of this release lies the timeless Silverbirch SPZL silhouette, a fan favourite within Gary Aspden‘s SPZL range. However, this time, the iconic design gets a fresh rework, all inspired by Goldie’s trailblazing journey as a DJ, artist, and style icon. From his early days as a B-Boy to his massive influence on the global drum and bass scene, every element of the Goldie SPZL tells a piece of the story.

A Closer Look at the adidas Goldie SPZL ‘Metalheadz’ (JI2085)…

The Goldie SPZL trainer boasts a tonal white upper made from a mix of materials that reflect the many facets of Goldie’s career. Faux-stingray leather overlays pay homage to his B-Boy roots, while nylon and mesh underlays give the design a global, street-ready vibe. A standout feature is the metallic gold detailing on the three-stripes and heel, a bold nod to Goldie himself. Adding a playful touch, the dual-branded tongue labels introduce a pop of pink, referencing Goldie’s consistent use of the colour in his early graffiti artwork.

Beyond its striking visuals, the shoe is packed with special details. The heels feature laser-cut logos – one side showcasing the SPZL Mod Trefoil, while the other bears the iconic Metalheadz logo, a tribute to Goldie’s pioneering music label. Custom lace jewels and graphic insoles with Goldie’s artwork further elevate the design, tying together the pink and graffiti influences. Finished with a netted midsole and a sturdy black rubber outsole, this silhouette combines creative flair with lasting durability.
