Sean Wotherspoon x Mizuno Wave MG4 LS SW

Sean Wotherspoon and Mizuno Sportstyle have finally linked up. And yes, there's denim involved.

Working under his Japan-based SWJP label, the vintage obsessive has reworked the Mizuno Wave MG4 LS into a two-pair capsule. One colourway is going global, while the other is staying firmly in Japan. Both land on Friday 30 October 2026.

A Closer Look at the Sean Wotherspoon x Mizuno Wave MG4 LS SW…

Details of the Sean Wotherspoon x Mizuno Wave MG4 LS SW

Denim, Mesh and That Check

If you've followed Sean over the years, you'll know he doesn't really do plain. Both pairs get an upper that mixes denim, mesh and synthetic materials, giving the Wave MG4 LS a vintage feel without losing its everyday versatility.

The SWJP touches are where it gets fun. An original check graphic runs through the design, and each pair sits on bespoke insoles. Mizuno says the shoe is built for everyday wear, so these clearly aren't meant to live in the box.

Our take? Sean's signature style looks right at home on the Mizuno silhouette. A great match.

Sean Wotherspoon x Mizuno Wave MG4 LS SW Light Blue

Light Blue for Everyone

The global pair (D1GD263101) comes in Light Blue, Off-White and Red. Blue does most of the talking, off-white tones keep things soft, and a touch of red finishes it off. This is the one you'll actually be able to buy over here.

Black Stays in Japan

Then there's the Japan exclusive (D1GD263102), officially listed as Light Grey, Off-White and Black. In the campaign shots it's the predominantly dark pair, with grey and white details on the upper and a light sole underneath. It's priced at ¥24,000 plus tax and won't be released outside Japan.

One Pair, Two Worlds

The campaign behind the capsule goes by 'One Pair, Two Worlds', and it follows the shoes from the streets of Shibuya all the way up into the mountains. The black pair handles the concrete, before the blue pair is revealed out in nature.

That switch is the whole idea. The story is built on three transitions: city to nature, everyday life to adventure, and a Japan-only product to a global one. Mizuno and SWJP sum it up in four words: From City To Nature.

So, Who's Behind SWJP?

SWJP is the first brand where Sean Wotherspoon works under his own name as Designer and Creative Director. The LA- and Tokyo-based designer, artist, curator, collector and vintage enthusiast runs the Japan project alongside Uchi (Ryunosuke Uchida), who serves as Co-Designer and Co-Creative Director.

Sean's trainer CV needs little introduction. His corduroy Nike Air Max 1/97 from 2018 is still one of his best-known pairs, and he's since put his stamp on adidas and ASICS too. Mizuno is a brand-new chapter.

And What About Mizuno?

Mizuno's story goes back to 1906, when brothers Rihachi and Rizo Mizuno started the brand in Osaka. Over the decades it built a name across athletics, tennis, golf and football. Today, Mizuno Sportstyle brings that sporting heritage to the lifestyle crowd, and a Sean Wotherspoon collab is a pretty strong way to do it.
