Nike SB Eric Koston 3 Hyperfeel – Q&A with Eric Koston at NikeTown London

A chance to meet ERIC KOSTON isn’t something to be taken lightly, so when Nike invited us to attend a Q&A with the man himself at NIKETOWN LONDON, we jumped at the opportunity.

Surrounded by Eric’s shoes – namely the brand-new NIKE SB ERIC KOSTON 3 HYPERFEEL – and lots of related paraphernalia, we sat and listened intently as Nike’s Jay Huckstep spoke about Koston’s influence and legacy. We rewatched his amazing part in the recent Chronicles 3 video (see below), shortly before Eric joined the stage with Gary Warnett for a slick interrogation that revealed his thought process behind the new shoe.

The Koston 3 Hyperfeel is something unique to behold and seeing the polarising effect it’s having on the skate audience is very interesting. It’s a brave design, rooted in performance rather than simply following a popular, safe aesthetic focused on fashion rather than function. For the launch day, a limited number of shoes were available in special triangular packaging, which captured the attention of the shoe fanatics as much as the skate audience. Whilst Eric was in town, he spent time with the UK SB team (including the newly-appointed Nick Jensen, who recently joined the roster), many of whom joined in an impromptu Game of Skate in Niketown once the crowds had departed.
