ORIGINAL ARTICLE 25/07/24: Make way for the NOCTA x Nike Hot Step 2 ‘Eggplant’, the latest sneaker offering from the Drake endorsed sub-label.

Since its inception in the latter part of 2020, Drake and Nike’s NOCTA has made its mark on streetwear culture. Delivering well-received hits like the Hot Step 2 and Glide, as well as a range of effective apparel, the sub-label looked to be steadily progressing in the right direction. Now, as the metaphoric battle scars from rap beef start to slowly heal, it seems an appropriate time for Champagne Papi to drop some new heat for the culture. 

Realigning with the popular Hot Step 2 model, the alliance turns its sights to a deep purple ‘Eggplant’ colourway to join the lineage. Taking inspiration from the aubergine-inspired offerings that have come before it (see the Zoom Lebron 4 and Air Foamposite for reference), the sneaker at hand looks to cement its relevance on the streets. A Closer Look at the NOCTA x Nike Hot Step 2 ‘Eggplant’ (DZ7293-500)…

Similarly to its palette-sharing counterparts, the exterior boasts an opalescent monochromatic persona. Seamlessly highlighting the bulky, yet intricate construction of the silhouette, the shimmery hue illuminates the synthetic textile. Adding another sprinkle of reflective finesse, gunmetal chrome detailing graces the tongue’s mini Swoosh, mid-foot shank and TPU overlay. Made complete with a durable rubber outsole, this lustrous offering is sure to go down a treat on the streets.

No sign of a Drop Date just yet for the NOCTA x Nike Hot Step 2 ‘Eggplant’ (DZ7293-500), but we can expect it to land sooner rather than later at NIKE SNKRS & SELECT RETAILERS.
