The popularity of the various New Balance models has increased in recent years. After the 'Dad Shoe' trend of 2018, we see rugged sneakers more and more in the street scene. New Balance released the M2002 Protection Pack in 2021. The pairs were given a destroyed look and came out in three different colorways, 'Black, 'Rain Cloud' and 'White'.
 
The upper of the 'Black' is made with a combination of mesh and suede. The base is made of mesh and can be seen around the collar and on the toebox. The overlays are made of suede. Over the entire sneaker, extra overlays run that are ruggedly finished. This creates a tough and worn look.
