Introducing the New Balance 2002
Designed by Andrew Nyssen in 2010 as the successor to the New Balance 2001, the New Balance 2002 was originally manufactured in the United States. A decade later, in 2020, the model was reintroduced with a refreshed design.
Led by Tetsuya Shono, creative director of New Balance Japan, the updated version swapped the original sole for the N-ERGY sole unit. This upgrade offered improved cushioning and shock absorption, combining foam with proprietary compounds to reduce stress on the feet and joints, enhancing overall comfort and support.
With its elevated quality, the 2002 quickly gained both popularity and a higher price point. Recognised for its chunky silhouette, the sneaker reemerged right as the 'Dad Shoe' trend was at its peak.
