Umbro x Whippets FC Kit Champions Team Spirit

Joining forces for a partnership that champions inclusivity whilst delivering nostalgic steez, Umbro x Whippets FC proudly presents a collaborative football kit like no other. 

Born and bred in Hackney, Whippets FC is a women’s and non-binary creative collective that’s made big waves in the women’s football movement. Composed of incredibly talented individuals such as The XX’s Romy Madley and art director Sarah Jayne Todd (just to name a few), the team is repping the LGBTQIA+ community, helping to facilitate a safe space for others. 

Designed from the creative mind of multidisciplinary designer Sophie Hird, the kit expresses a retro aesthetic, drawing inspiration from 80s and 90s football jerseys. Featuring home and GK Jerseys, Shorts and Pro Socks, you can tap into the movement, and look good whilst doing it. 

“The inspiration for the jersey design was led by looking through football kit archives from the 80s and 90s. I love how loud some of the retro jerseys are in terms of colour and print, so really wanted to play with this yet maintain a wearable element. The design we chose in the end feels very classic and a piece I hope players will want to wear on-and-off the pitch.” Sophie Hird, Designer.

This dynamic collaboration underscores Umbro’s ongoing commitment to championing both grassroots football teams and their professional counterparts.
