The Serena Williams Design Crew x Nike Air Max 1 is Near

After patiently waiting since the beginning of Summer, the Serena Williams Design Crew x Nike Air Max 1 is near. In fact, it’s practically in reaching distance. With just 2 weeks before the anticipated drop, we’ve finally got an up-close look at the iteration! Arriving in a vibrant colourway that will aid your transition from summer to winter rotation, we’re very excited.

Co-founded by the tennis extraordinaire herself, the Serena Williams Design Crew is an innovative collective of designers and creatives. The apprenticeship programme structure nutures and sustains the fruits of these talents, resulting in a plethora of stunningly dynamic iterations. Just take a look at SWDC’s rendition of the Nike Air More Uptempo, Air Force 1 and Air Max 90 for instance. And according to this take on the Air Max 1, the crew are showing no signs of slowing down. 

The silhouette arrives in a bright orange hue, composed of contrasting premium materials for a striking look. The front of the sneaker dons a perforated structure, complementing the use of mustard distressed suede in the overlays. The lacing system, mesh panelling and inner lining follow suit within the orange palette, opposed by a sleek white mudguard and midsole. Adding a dash of conflicting colour to the mix are subtle “Clear Jade” accents. These take place within the Air Sole Unit, miniature Swoosh, insole and heel branding.
