Powered by The Drop Date and StockX, the ARCHIVE.DNA exhibition opened its doors this weekend, bringing a treasure trove of footwear rarities to Central London…
Whether you’re a die-hard footwear fan with all the knowledge in the world, or just starting out and want to swot up on your facts and figures, the Archive.DNA exhibition at StockX’s London Pop-Up is the place to be this week and next. Magdi Fernandes’ meticulously revised collection spans some of the weirdest and most obscure nooks and crannies of Nike’s illustrious history, and there are definitely a few surprises to be had here.
The various display bays look back over a variety of Nike’s successful sub-brands, with the ACG area hosting a series of obscure models released between 2000-2004 – such as the DRI-GOAT, WMNS Air Hydrous and the Air Zoom Tallac GTX, to name but a few. The Vault showcases a strictly unobtainable selection of shoes, such as the Vibe AF1’s, one of ten AF1 Laser Samples designed by Mark Smith, Deftones Dunk High and Dunk Low Pro SB “Alphanumeric” samples. In addition to this, there’s also the Air Max 90 bay which highlights the model’s transition from a performance-focused design to a lifestyle staple – featuring an Air Max 90 from 2001 (which was the first to take on that name after its original title of Air Max III was dropped), along with the Denim adorned Courir collaboration from 2002 and the Jeff Staple designed Navigation Pack from 2004.
Finally, the Zoom Bay that shows off the various uses of Zoom technology, such as the caged visible Zoom unit on the 2003 Air Zoom Spiridon, as well as the hidden heel encapsulated ZOOM used in the 2002 Zoom Air Streak. If you’re in London there’s still chance to check the exhibition out in person – just head over to the StockX London Pop-Up in Soho during the times and dates highlighted below.
