The NIKE SB X AIR JORDAN 1 BY LANCE MOUNTAIN continues the skate and basketball crossover seen with the recent NIKE SB JORDAN 1 release, but first established in the 1980s. This isn’t a tenuous link concocted to drive marketing hype: if you had the money to pick up a pair, the original Air Jordan was a great option for skating in. Strong construction, great ankle support, excellent colours – and the unofficial endorsement of some of the best skaters in history.
This Lance Mountain co-lab is a playful tweak to the series. Picking up on the fact he wore mismatched Jordans on his feet in 1987’s Animal Chin video (royal blue on the left, carolina blue on the right), this forthcoming release sees a black colourway and a white colourway, each designed to change appearance as the top layers get worn away. Shoes that transform as they are worn is something Nike has done very well over the years (the Slam City Dunk SB or the Geoff McFetridge Vandal Supremes spring to mind immediately) and both of these editions continue that theme very well. These shoes are the same base model – a mismatched pairing of one black/red and one black/royal Jordan 1 – but will come covered in either white or black ‘paint’.
Both colourways of the NIKE SB X AIR JORDAN 1 BY LANCE MOUNTAIN are scheduled to drop on SATURDAY 7.6.14 both In-Store and Online, and as always, we’ll have the RELEASE PAGE detailing all the confirmed list of stockists and link-throughs up on the site, ahead of the drop. Hold tight!
