The NIKE SB DUNK LOW STREET HAWKER finds the iconic low-top skate shoe taking a trip over to the streets of China for this latest SB release.

The much-loved Nike SB Dunk started life as a basketball shoe but by padding out the tongue, adding some extra comfort to the collar and applying some Zoom Air insoles, it quickly switched from a court staple into a premium skate shoe. The SB Dunk found fans from the moment it dropped back in 2002, bringing simple, uncomplicated styling to a market formed of weighty and over-technical designs. Unsurprisingly, the SB Dunk remains to be one of the best shoes on the market. For this newest drop, Nike SB has enlisted the help of artist Jason Deng to create a special release that pays tribute to the street food sellers of China. Deng created watercolour paintings which referenced six different dishes from six Chinese cities: Beijing (bean curd milk and fried ring), Chengdu (hot pot), Xi’an (pita bread soaked in mutton soup), Shanghai (plain noodles), Guangzhou (goose) and Taipei (shaved ice and taro balls). Other extra details, such as the coin on the heel and the brown Swoosh (to represent chopsticks) finish this lively design off in full force.
