The Nike Air Max Zero ‘Metallic Silver’ is Out Now

The NIKE AIR MAX ZERO ‘METALLIC SILVER’ is another crisp, tonal and minimalist colourway from the Air Max Zero stable.

A few weeks after the drop of the Binary Blue and Cool Grey colourways, this ‘Metallic Silver’ iteration follows suit with a colour scheme that accentuates the silhouette’s sleek, futuristic look, albeit with a few understated but effective pops of colour. Punctuating the machine-like silver are brief bursts of black and red on the inner liner, tongue, branding, and outsole. And providing further contrast is a white rubber midsole and outsole. By now you should know The Drop Date obsesses a bit over trainer history…so, as we have revealed in the past, while the Zero debuted in 2015, it actually started out as a prototype design that preceded the Nike Air Max 1 (hence the ‘Zero’ and why Nike refers to it as ‘the one before the 1’). It was designed by – who else? – Tinker Hatfield (you’ll see that his signature adorns the inner liner), whose bootie-inspired construction and sock-like upper finally saw the light of day after being stuck on a drawing board for 30 years. Hatfield’s design was considered too ‘out there’ when first conceived but thanks to advances in technology and consumer tastes, the Zero looks completely at home in 2016’s sneakerheads’ collections.
