NIKE AIR MAX 95 iD – Focus & Design Competition

The NIKE AIR MAX 95 iD is one of the most exciting new additions to the NikeiD platform – and having explored the full range of options, we felt it was time to take a deeper look. The 95 is classic element in the Air Max arsenal: the shape is sleek and aerodynamic, and it was the first Nike shoe to utilise two separate Air units in the sole, resulting in a technical-looking lower section.

As you’d expect from the iD site, there are a wide variety of customisable colors and graphics on offer here, including snakeskin prints and midsole speckles. The Air Max 95 lends itself to customisation well, with plenty of panels and sections to play with. We’ve taken a look at the history of the 95 over here already and with its 20th anniversary upon us, seeing the model on the iD site feels like the perfect celebration. The 95 ticks all the boxes for us – so let’s get creative!

To begin with, we started with an palette based on the original 95 design – plenty of Volt and grey, but a flip on the gradient results in something unique. To follow this, we’ve looked at the original Slate Blue colourway and added our own little twist. Two solid starters for 10.

Next up, something a with a bit more of a ZING! to it… A solid red leather dip with a little crimson for just a touch of contrast. The 95 looks great in a monotone rendition, as there are lots of contours and panels throughout. Then we’ve looked at a greyscale version that’s perfect for the forthcoming autumn months, with a touch of red for extra flavour.

To round off, we’ve explored the reflective and graphic options: these are brand-new to the 95, and are a guaranteed way to create something unique. The original 95 introduced many of us to the Volt colour, so we’ve gone for an reflective design that is reminiscent of Sergio Lazano’s original design: a touch of snakeskin as a graphic print rounds it off perfectly.
