The NIKE AIR FORCE 1 LOW EXPERIMENTAL offers rare insight into the conceptual design and development areas at Nike. Expect the unexpected!
Looking like a work-in-progress perhaps, almost everything about this revolutionary update to the Air Force 1 is pushing the boundaries of what we expect from a Nike shoe. Whilst the one-piece foam uppers follow the layout and styling of the classic Air Force 1, the overlaid shrink-wrap puts it all behind glass. A previously-unseen speed lacing system is secured with toggles, with the exposed foam tongue being incorporated into the design almost seamlessly. High-visibility labelling and the N. 354 tag on the heel keep the branding minimal and appropriate, whilst the outsole looks suspiciously like it might have glow-in-the-dark properties. To some, this release might look a little strange perhaps, but it shows us once again just how timeless the AF1 design really is.
