They last collaborated in 2013 but the NEW BALANCE X NORSE PROJECTS DANISH WEATHER PACK 2.0 sees the two brands reconnect to celebrate the recently resurrected Ranier hiking boot.
The drop will be available in two colourways – Blue Graphite and Husk (tan) – both of which draw their inspiration from coastal Denmark’s shoreline topography during winter’s darkest months. The folks at Norse Projects took the New Balance silhouette, which takes its cues from the classic HL710, and reintroduced the Rainier’s original Vibram sole unit. Additionally, they’ve updated the D-rings to modern lace hoops and upgraded to a Gore-Tex upper, which beefs up the nubuck and ripstop nylon paneling, making it ready for the harshest winter conditions. Branding-wise, the look is finished with a two-piece ‘N’ logo with reflective underlay.
The original HL710 made its debut all the way back in 1982 and it was something of a breakthrough product for hikers, as the outdoors industry had historically only offered bulky, rigid boots. The streamlined but robust silhouette still looks fresh in 2016, as evidenced in this new collaborative effort. The original Danish Weather collaboration dropped in 2013, when Norse Projects collaborated with New Balance dropping two versions of the 1500 silhouette. But if you’re seeking out a cold weather- and outdoor-ready boot for the current season, this latest end product from the two labels is a strong candidate for your winter rotation.
The NEW BALANCE X NORSE PROJECTS DANISH WEATHER PACK 2.0 is due to drop on SATURDAY 10 DECEMBER: keep checking back for the latest updates. In the meantime, check the current selection of New Balance at HANON via the banner below.
