LE COQ SPORTIF AW14 PREVIEW

 

Last week, we at The Drop Date caught a little look at the forthcoming AW14 range from LE COQ SPORTIF. The French label have undergone a huge rebrand over the past couple of years, eschewing an unwanted reputation as a lower-tier sportswear company and re-establishing itself with high-quality product. From the look of things, AW14 continues this new legacy, with some top-class footwear for men and women set to release.

This season sees the revival of the Zenith, an archive runner that has been reissued for the first time since its inception. In terms of retro runners, this is about as classic-looking as it gets; textured nylon gives it an almost knitted look, while some fresh colourways are topped off with a tongue tag that bears the original LCS branding.

 

 

 More colours of the faithfully-reincarnated R1000 are on the horizon, with that teal and purple version holding our gaze for a hot second. The white, grey and pink pair are definitely a good look for the female trainer fiend as well.

 

 

 

The Eclat is perhaps the sporting rooster’s most popular shoe right now and there are plenty of makeups to be had here. Some bright, sporty makeups are a good look, with a Tour de France yellow option peaking our interest big time. Murdered-out black and coke white colourways are set to be a sure fire hit as well. A double drop of geometric print versions evokes images of 90s-era French skiwear, in a very good way. The apparel range that will release alongside it is off the chain as well. Purple, teal and striking patterns makes this retro at its very best.

 

 

 

 

The triple pack of perforated nubuck Eclats is most definitely the highlight of the collection. These really don’t need much explaining but we will point out the embossed LCS logo on the midsection and reassure you that the material really is as premium as it looks. Buttery isn’t even the word.

 

 

There’s plenty going on for the fairer sex as well, with some killer Eclats and insanely dope animal print packs stealing the limelight from the men’s collection.
