After dressing the NEW BALANCE 576 up in a Grenson brogue-inspired build crafted in the finest Italian full grain calf-leather back for the launch of their “One Shoe, Two Factories” collaboration in January 2016, the Boston-based sports footwear heavyweights are set to join forces with the famed London-based bench-made shoemakers for phase two of their partnership. Extending the offering this time around, New Balance serves up a trio of takes on the same model. First up there’s an all-new colourway of the original men’s 576 which flaunts a heady combo of classic Grenson Full Grain and Italian calf leathers in burnished tan, dark brown, and Burnt Oak suede. Phase two also sees a woman’s model enter the pack, and it’s probably the real head-turner of the line-up. Working with Grenson Italian full-grain tan calf and a winter white ruff-out suede, the design is finished with a distinct “kiltie” finish over the lace bed, usually favoured on high-end dress shoes and traditional loafers. Last but not least is the real innovative spark: a Goodyear Welted version of the 576, crafted in entirety at the Grenson factory in Northamptonshire.
