Say hello to the CONVERSE JACK PURCELL MODERN HTM, the latest classic Converse shoe to be on the receiving end of the legendary HTM team’s design wizardry.
Much like it did with the All Star Modern, Auckland Modern and Thunderbolt Modern earlier in the summer, Converse has given the Jack Purcell the HTM treatment, continuing to breathe new life into the vintage classic more than eight decades after its creation. Keeping things simple yet stylish, Converse’s latest, limited-edition drop comes in black and white colourways and boasts a full grain leather upper, all of which imbue the shoe with a trim, modern look that’s in keeping with the understated elegance we all associate with the brand. Other features include embossed HTM branding across the tongue, semi-waxed tonal laces and a light grey “smile” instead of the usual blue.
That ridiculously talented trio – Hiroshi Fujiwara, Tinker Hatfield and Mark Parker – have done it again, taking a shoe with such a rich heritage and bringing it into the 21st Century with a focus on new materials and new construction. Tennis season may be fast disappearing in the rear view mirror but we’re very tempted to grab a pair, but should it be the black or white?
