The COLETTE X LE COQ SPORTIF COLLECTION is inspired in part by the world’s most famous bicycle race – the Tour de France.
The capsule collection offers a new take on cycling jerseys for a combination of style and performance. The technical jerseys, identical to those worn by Tour de France competitors, sport three very different lifestyle inspired prints. The first is inspired by the highly coveted ‘King of the Mountain’ jersey, but switches out the red for blue as a nod to the COLETTE logo. The second, available for men and women, features toile du jouy, a new take on the traditional French pattern. As a homage to the race, the pattern is made up of distinctive elements from the race, including rural landscapes and monuments. The last jersey combines black, white and blue with the text COLETTE CYCLING CLUB as a nod to the cycling group members that all wear the same jersey to show their team spirit.
Alongside the jerseys, LE COQ SPORTIF is re-issuing the Wendon, a shoe that can trace its history all the way back to 1965 and made a comeback in the early 2000s. The collection includes two colourways, the first of which sports an upper dominated by the same tour de jouy pattern as one of the jerseys. Blue detailing on the heel and logo tie in with the pattern, whilst a white midsole and the ever-popular choice of a gum outsole rounds things off. The second pair features the same colour blocking, but instead of the intricate pattern, the upper is dominated by black leather, with large circular cutouts. It also sits on top of a white midsole, but this time the outsole is finished in black to tie in with the upper. Both pairs are rounded off by a COLETTE logo on the heel, as well as dual-branded leather insoles. These might not make you the ‘King of the Mountain’, but you will definitely look good treading the pavement.
The COLETTE X LE COQ SPORTIF COLLECTION, apart from the polka dot jersey, which is exclusive to COLETTE is set to drop on MONDAY 20 JULY. Check back with us for links to help you secure the pieces you’ll need from the collection.
