Caroline Hu Puts Her Spin on the adidas Samba

In February 2024, we saw the first-ever team-up between Edison Chen‘s CLOT and adidas. Needless to say, the CLOT x adidas Superstar flew off the shelves in the blink of an eye. Now, in May, Edison is passing the baton to Caroline Hu for the next drop. She’s given the adidas Samba an aesthetically-pleasing new look, paying homage to Chinese culture.

Caroline Hu is an emerging fashion designer known for her innovative designs and unique aesthetic. She has gained recognition in the fashion industry, particularly in China, for her creative approach to blending traditional Chinese elements with contemporary fashion. Hu was also a finalist in the LVMH Young Designer Award, which further solidified her position as a rising star in the fashion world.

Now she’s putting her spin on the classic adidas Samba, infusing it with the vibrant visuals of Chinese culture. Hu teamed up with her artist friend Rao Chen for this project.

A Closer Look at the Reverie by Caroline Hu x adidas Samba Collection…

The collection features five different Samba styles. The first two are all about dramatic loofah frills, one in black and the other in blue, with those iconic adidas stripes staying crisp in white. Then, there’s a trio in textured silk—black, off-white, and pink—all rocking matching leather stripes.

But it’s not just about kicks. Hu’s bringing her touch to t-shirts, crocheted tops, and pleated skirts too, inspired by CLOT’s ‘HUA REN’ collection. “The collaboration has been an excellent opportunity,” says Hu. “to reexamine Chinese elements in my designs. This is best articulated through the vibrant colors and detailed prints.”
