The ASICS x sivasdescalzo Gel Lyte III Takes Sustainable Design to New Levels

The ASICS X SIVASDESCALZO GEL LYTE III takes a responsible approach to collaboration, using sustainable design as the core theme for the project. The typical execution of the GLIII usually features familiar materials such as suede and neoprene in the construction, but Sivasdescalzo has utilised a canvas-like plant-based textile throughout the base layer. The famous split tongue is held together with jute fibre laces, whilst the insoles are crafted fully from recycled plastic bottles.

“The silhouette takes a lot of inspiration from the earth with a contrast of colours that are reminiscent of natural elements,” said SVD creative director Raúl Fernández. “Essentially we wanted it to look like it came straight out of nature, playing around with a combination of raw and recycled materials, the raw being the yin to the recycled materials’ yang.”
