ADIDAS have been very accomplished in mining the early-90s training section of their archives in the past couple of years, with the Tech Super and Torsion Allegra making waves in 2013 and the Equipment line stealing the show this year. Next up on their schedule: the TORSION RESPONSE LITE.
We won’t pretend that we had six pairs of these way back when and have been praying for a reissue ever since, but these have definitely got our attention this time around. Evidently some of adidas’ period pieces have more relevance today than in the era in which they were designed; we’re guessing that’s the point of keeping an archive.
There are plenty of features that make this a great retro running shoe: form-fitting inner bootie, sculpted Torsion midsole that has been updated with modern tech and multiple lace accessories. The colourway and build is similarly perfect: turquoise neoprene and white faux-suede are about as quintessentially 1990s as Tamagotchis and Fred Durst.
