The ADIDAS SPEZIAL BOSTON (or ADIDAS SPZL BOSTON, if you prefer) is the accompanying release to go with this year’s Spezial retrospective, curated by the legendary Gary Aspden and Mike Chetcuti. Last year’s event was such a success that a follow-up show, this time taking place in Manchester as part of Design Week, is a no-brainer. To celebrate the event further, an adidas Originals x SPEZIAL capsule collection of apparel and footwear will follow later this year.
Back to the shoe in question – and what a shoe it is! Based on a Spanish-made version of the Boston runner that generated a lot of interest at the first SPEZIAL event, the sole unit is borrowed from the ZX710 and joined with a reworked Boston upper. With a sharper, sleeker shape to it than the Boston Super that we all know and love, the low profile was created by reducing the tongue and toe padding. Presented here in a smart grey, white and red colour scheme, the Boston SPZL really does live up to its name.
The ADIDAS SPEZIAL BOSTON is coming soon – and we’ll have the full release information and the low-down on the Spezial exhibition up here on The Drop Date as soon as it’s available.
