In 2021, it was announced that Teddy Santis would be the Creative Director of New Balance's Made In USA and UK. Teddy Santis has become known for his success with his clothing brand Aimé Leon Dore which he founded in 2014. His brand has collaborated with New Balance on numerous occasions and each time have sold out in no time.
 
Since Santis joined New Balance, he has occasionally posted teasers on his Instagram. May 2022 marked the release of the first pairs under Teddy's watch. This 990v3 is made with mesh, leather and suede. The mesh and leather are a beige colour. The suede overlays are in grey.
