Nike is renowned for amplifying its most popular silhouettes with weather-resistant tooling courtesy of Gore-Tex. One of the classic Nike silhouettes to receive this treatment is the Air Max 90, which is the latest instalment within the co-branded series.
The design, which was created by Tinker Hatfield, is draped in a strict monochrome treatment. The base layer is made of pitch-dark grey ballistic mesh, while the surrounding leather overlays achieve a slightly lighter tone.
The midsole and inner lining continue the greyscale influence, while the upper overlay and laces are knocked out by a concussive force of jet-black before touching down along the heel counter and the mid-foot’s Gore-Tex branding.
