Tinker Hatfield drew on the 1987 Air Max and the 1989 Air Max Light for a shoe first called the Air Max III, which Nike launched in 1990 as the second flagship of the line after the Air Max 1. The Nike Air Max 90 'Black' sets Chrome Yellow against black. Overlays are stitched and accents textured, details Nike uses to bring back the look of the '90s. The Max Air cushioning stays in view, and a rubber Waffle outsole runs underneath.
