The canvas overlays come in a colourful pattern, which has a hand-painted effect. The official name of this art form is called paisley. Some silver charms have also been placed on the heel of the Air Max. The Nike Air Max 1 WMNS 'Paisley Charms' gets its name from these special features. 

The midsole of the AM1 is white with an air unit with orange interior. The sneaker's outsole is again distinctive. The outsole contains a mix of different colours that blend together.
