In 2021, Teddy Santis was appointed Creative Director of the MADE IN USA collection by New Balance. Santis was familiar with the US sports company. He is the owner of his own company, Aimé Leon Dore. All the pairs he creates with New Balance use his actual handwriting.

One of the first pairs of New Balance sneakers to be launched under Teddy's leadership is the 990v1 'Incense' (M990AD1). The mesh covering the top's base has a yellowed colour, while the rest of the upper is comprised of suede, leather, and mesh. Beige leather runs horizontally through the middle of the top. The letter 'N' is in black on the leather component. Beige suede makes up the toecap and heel cap. This pair's lining and heel tab are also in black.
