The adidas ZX 4000 4D, released in early 2019, represents a bold blend of retro design and futuristic innovation.

Reviving the spirit of the original 1989 ZX 4000, this model fuses the iconic running silhouette with adidas’s groundbreaking 4D midsole technology. While it preserves many of the vintage design cues (such as the structured overlays, angular ZX line detailing, and classic branding) it updates the formula with a modern Primeknit upper for a flexible, adaptive fit.

The centrepiece is the Carbon 4D lattice midsole, created using Digital Light Synthesis: a process that harnesses light, liquid resin, and oxygen to craft a digitally printed, precision-engineered cushioning platform. A tough Continental™ rubber outsole and translucent Three-Stripes elements complete the forward-thinking design.
