When New Balance released the 990v3 in 2012, it marked 30 years of the original 990, first introduced in the '80s. The JJJJound x New Balance 990v3 Made in USA 'Tan Suede' does away with mesh altogether, so tan suede covers the whole upper. Black is reserved for the N logos, the trim and the outsole. The 990v3 model is built on Encap, which New Balance calls its signature midsole system.
