New Balance has released a collaboration on the 991 model with Dover Street Market. Dover Street Market is a large department store and sells big brands like Sacai, Stüssy and Comme des Garçons. The department store was founded by Rei Kawakubo in 2004, after she started Comme des Garçons.
 
The 991 is made with mesh, leather and suede. The base of the upper is made with mesh in a light grey colour. The mesh can be found on the toebox and around the collar. On the toe and under the ankle are leather overlays in a yellow-green colour. This colour can also be seen on the heel tab, tongue and midsole. The rest of the overlays are made of suede and consist of grey and brown tones.
