In 1985, following the unprecedented success of the Air Jordan 1, Nike's design team, led by Bruce Kilgore and including a young Mark Parker, set out to create a follow-up signature model that would match Michael Jordan's refined sense of style. To achieve this, they ventured to Italy, renowned for its premium craftsmanship in footwear manufacturing. 

The result was the unique and distinct Air Jordan 2, deviating significantly from its predecessor with a unique cut, exotic materials, and dress shoe detailing. Now, Jordan Brand pays homage to the model's origins with a new colourway known as 'Italy.' This iteration retains the original white and red scheme while introducing green on the heel, symbolizing the Italian flag's colours.  

Additionally, vintage aesthetics are incorporated through pre-yellowed treatment on the middle eyelets and midsole, showcasing the enduring legacy and timeless design of the Air Jordan 2.
