JD Sports Marks '110 Day' With an Air Max 95 Built for Liverpool

JD Sports has never needed much of an excuse to make a fuss over the Air Max 95 in Liverpool, and this year's "110 Day" is no different. To mark it, the retailer is dropping a JD-exclusive Air Max 95 built entirely around the city, landing on Thursday 1st October.

The "110" tag goes back to the 1990s, when Scousers started calling the Air Max 95 "the 110" after its original £110 price tag. The silhouette went on to become something close to a uniform on the city's streets, and JD has leaned into that history hard with this one.

A Closer Look at the Air Max 95 'Liverpool'

The design takes the classic Air Max 95 layering and splits it straight down the middle, lateral and medial sides pulling in completely different directions rather than fading into each other the way the OG gradient does. It's a deliberate echo of the "Greedy" colourway, just localised.

On the outer side, orange takes over the lace loops, Swoosh and tongue trim, a nod to Liverpool's brick terraces and warehouses. Flip to the inner side and it switches to a soft mint green instead, picking up the colour of the Liver Bird that watches over the city from the Royal Liver Building. Both sit on a base of grey suede, black nubuck and mesh, so the shoe still reads as an Air Max 95 first and a concept second.

The tongue carries a split "Liverpool" wordmark in orange and mint, and there's a matching mismatched lace-loop treatment running up both sides. It's a small detail, but it's the sort of thing that gives this one away as a proper city-specific release rather than a colourway with a story bolted on afterwards.

Round the back, the heel counter gets a debossed brick pattern standing in for the city's terraced housing, sat underneath a "NIKE LPL" lockup in place of the usual branding. The Swoosh here goes two-tone, orange on one heel and mint on the other, and the Air unit itself has been treated to a shifting, iridescent finish that runs from blue through to purple depending on the light, a step up from a straightforward tint.

Flip the shoe over and the outsole spells out "SCOUSE" across the arch in orange lettering, framed by a mint green midfoot section. It's the kind of detail you'd only really see on your own feet or in a photo, which feels about right for a release built for the people who already know what "110" means without being told.

Why '110 Day' Matters

JD Sports was founded in Bury but built a huge part of its identity through Liverpool, a city that adopted the Air Max 95 so completely in the 90s that "wearing 110s" became local shorthand for wearing Air Max full stop. JD has marked the date before with pop-up activations and limited releases, and this Liverpool colourway is this year's centrepiece.

The Nike Air Max 95 'Liverpool' releases on Thursday 1st October 2026 as a JD Sports exclusive, priced at £185 in the UK and €190 in mainland Europe. No other retailer has been confirmed for this one, so JD Sports is the place to keep an eye on.
