MoMA and Nike Partner for a Special Take on the Air Rift 2

The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) and Nike are extending their collaborative history with a fresh project! This time, the collab is centered on one of the Swoosh's most avant-garde silhouettes. Reuniting to redefine footwear through an artistic lens, the duo has worked on the cult-classic Nike Air Rift 2. A model that everyone talks about at the minute. Nike and MoMA are delivering a refined two-piece pack that merges functional design with modern minimalism.

A closer look at the MoMA x Nike Air Rift 2...

The MoMA x Nike Air Rift 2 pack features two colourways: a sleek 'Black' option alongside a soft, neutral 'Olive' version. Design highlights on the upper are held in different, vibrant colours that make the pieces stand out.

Both pairs also utilize premium materials across the upper, framed by standard midfoot straps and subtle co-branded detailing that discreetly highlights MoMA’s involvement.

Nike and the MoMA Design Store, as well as The Museum of Modern Art's curatorial program, have a longstanding association. Since 2017, designs and products from the Swoosh have occasionally been featured in exhibitions, and several co-productions have been created over the past few years, too.

What you need to know about the silhouette? Originally introduced in 1996, the Air Rift made waves with its split-toe design inspired by Kenyan barefoot runners and traditional Ninja footwear. This latest iteration honours that distinctive heritage while stripping back unnecessary details in favour of a clean execution.

Further elevating the release, each pair comes packaged with custom split-toe socks specifically tailored for the Air Rift's unique toe box construction, ensuring seamless everyday wear right out of the box.

We think: The Nike Air Rift gets a brand new design context through this collaboration with MoMA. All in all, a super interesting combo!
