Ahead of this summer’s highly anticipated World Cup, PUMA has teamed up with visionary designer Salehe Bembury to drop a collaborative capsule that completely redefines what players wear off the pitch.
The FIFA World Cup 2026 officially kicks off on the 11th of June 2026, and the whole football world is waiting for it. The tournament also does not go unnoticed by fashion brands, the music world, or even toy brands like LEGO. They all come up with dedicated collections around this big stage of football. So do PUMA and Salehe Bembury with their capsule:

Dubbed the ‘TRVL WEAR’ collection, the project sees the designer trade his usual basketball and running blueprints for the beautiful game. And he hasn’t just been given the keys to the archive of PUMA; he has pretty much been handed a blank canvas.
Rather than opting for a generic, one-size-fits-all aesthetic, Bembury has developed bespoke visual codes for 11 of PUMA’s national federations, including the likes of Portugal, Morocco, Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, and Switzerland. Leaning heavily into local geography, biological narratives, and cultural legacies, the collection aims to ensure that regional identity remains front and centre from the moment the squads depart for the tournament.

The capsule cleverly reinterprets traditional football heritage through Bembury’s signature design language. We see organic textures meet high-performance craftsmanship. Classic silhouettes have been given a distinct streetwear spin: the iconic KING tracksuit, for example, gets a skate-ready reimagining. Alongside, we see some co-branded tees, shorts, and jerseys.

But the real talking points? The goalkeeper kits and the footwear, in our opinion. Bembury’s bespoke goalkeeper jerseys are designed to make the loudest statement on the pitch during official tournament matches, ensuring the last line of defence is also the most stylish.
Next to the apparel, we also get some heat on feet with the Velum 1 Akita. This is a brand-new footwear innovation packed with PUMA’s responsive NITROFOAM™ cushioning and wrapped in a UV-reactive finish that shifts colours when hit by sunlight.

“Football has always been about more than the game: it’s identity, culture, the way people carry where they’re from,” (…) “By mixing the KING’s rich history with Salehe’s unique perspective on nature and culture, we’ve created a collection that is as functional for our athletes as it is expressive for the fans.”
Dominique Gathier, PUMA’s VP of Teamsport

The campaign imagery you can see in this article was shot on location in Los Angeles to celebrate the sheer diversity of one of the tournament’s key host cities.
