In a fusion of elite athletic performance and global pop culture, Nike has officially announced the collaborative capsule with the legendary manga franchise One Piece. The designs are drawing direct inspiration from the mystical Devil Fruits. For those who don't know: these grant superhuman abilities to those who consume them in the series. The collection is meant to mirror the transformational rush athletes experience when stepping onto the pitch or court in Nike gear.
Here is what you need to know:

One Piece is a record-breaking Japanese manga and anime series that follows the high-seas adventures of Monkey D. Luffy and his Straw Hat Pirates as they search for the ultimate treasure to claim the title of Pirate King. In September 2026, Nike is teaming up with the franchise to drop an extensive sneaker, apparel, and accessories collection.
At the heart of the drop are three distinct iterations of the Nike Air Max Plus model. Each of them is featuring a completely retooled, bespoke upper that is engineered specifically for this release.
Rather than offering simple color tweaks, the silhouettes pay homage to three key Devil Fruits from the storyline: the Gomu Gomu no Mi, reflecting the rubber-like elasticity of protagonist Monkey D. Luffy; the Ope Ope no Mi, inspired by Trafalgar Law’s spatial manipulation abilities; and the Mera Mera no Mi, capturing the fiery aesthetics associated with Portgas D. Ace and Sabo. As mentioned above, these fruits grant superhuman abilities to those who consume them in the series.

Nick Remlinger, General Manager of Energy Gaming at Nike, noted that the team was inspired by the superhuman capabilities unleashed when characters consume the fruits, linking that feeling directly to the confidence an athlete gains when putting on a pair of Nikes to reimagine the Air Max Plus in a way fans have never seen before.
The accompanying apparel line was designed to bridge Nike's rich design heritage with Eiichiro Oda’s iconic universe. We are talking co-branded jerseys and caps that are drawn directly from the Nike archives, for example.
Furthermore, there are some graphic T-shirts integrating manga panels alongside retro-style Nike advertising graphics and the famous Jolly Roger drawn by Luffy as a mark of a promise.

A standalone highlight of the apparel range is a utility vest inspired by the folklore of the Devil Fruits itself, subtly referencing the lore's curse that leaves those who consume the fruits hated by the sea and unable to swim.

Given how frequently elite athletes incorporate One Piece references into their post-match celebrations, the capsule translates that organic crossover into wearable design, framing athletic performance as an ultimate canvas for imagination.

The Nike x One Piece collection, including the Air Max Plus, apparel, and accessory pieces, is set to drop in September 2026.
Nike is staging a multi-phase global rollout starting with exclusive pop-up experiences before the official digital drop. The collection makes its debut from 4 to 6 September with a specialized Tokyo pop-up, followed by select retail activations on 12 September across key global hubs such as HBX Hong Kong, Nike Lab PS7, Invincible in Jakarta, Lust in Mexico City, and Worksout in Seoul.
European boutiques and retailers, including Patta in Amsterdam, Offspring in London, SNS in Stockholm, Footdistrict in Madrid, and AFEW in Düsseldorf, will receive their stock on 19 September. The entire collection will then launch globally on 25 September via the Nike SNKRS app.
