In 1991, Nike released the first Air Max BW, designed by Tinker Hatfield. The BW, Big Window, got its name from the Air Unit that was created for this silhouette. It is larger than its predecessor, the Air Max 90.
 
The 'Black Persian' brings a new take on the original colorway that came out in 1991. The shoe uses the same black and purple colour palette, but displays it differently than the 'Persian Violet'. The upper is made of black leather and has a white wraparound panel. Persian accents on the swoosh, lining and tongue contrast with the upper.
