The GEL-Nunobiki is ASICS' 2024 trails-inspired SportStyle sneaker, honouring both the brand’s heritage trail models and the natural landscapes surrounding its birthplace in Kobe, Japan.
Named after the Nunobiki Trail, famous for its waterfalls and scenic beauty, the design draws heavily from early-2000s trail shoes such as the GEL-Kahana 3 and GEL-Target. Matte and semi-gloss synthetic overlays rest atop breathable mesh, forming a layered upper that evokes rugged outdoor textures. Underfoot, the rearfoot features ASICS’ GEL cushioning for impact absorption, while the outsole incorporates a trail-specific lug pattern for superior grip on varied terrain.
Finishing details like wide or transparent laces, recycled materials in synthetic leather panels, and a colour palette blending natural and urban tones bridge the gap between performance trail heritage and contemporary streetwear style.
