Introducing the Air Jordan 20
The Air Jordan 20, released in 2005, celebrated the 20th anniversary of Michael Jordan’s iconic sneaker line.
Representing a bold departure from its predecessors, the AJ20 combined cutting-edge technology with a narrative-driven design. Its most striking feature was the laser-etched ankle strap, decorated with over 200 symbols highlighting key moments from Jordan’s life and career, effectively turning the shoe into a visual autobiography.
Technologically, the Air Jordan 20 introduced the Independent Podular Suspension (IPS) system, using individual pods to deliver responsive cushioning tailored to the foot’s natural movements. Additional features included a breathable sphere lining to reduce overheating and a memory foam collar for enhanced comfort.
