Introducing the adidas Yeezy Boost 350
Kanye West’s foray into fashion began with Nike in 2009, but his true breakthrough came after partnering with adidas in 2013. Two years later, he unveiled the Yeezy Boost 350 ‘Turtle Dove’ at New York Fashion Week, a release that reshaped sneaker culture. With its streamlined, low-top silhouette, Primeknit upper, and adidas BOOST cushioning, the shoe fused high fashion with performance technology in a way the industry hadn’t seen before.
The success of the ‘Turtle Dove’ paved the way for a string of coveted releases, culminating in the Yeezy Boost 350 V2 in 2016. This evolution introduced a more striking Primeknit design, the signature SPLY-350 stripe, and an upgraded sole unit. The V2 quickly took off, with eight colorways dropping in its first year alone.
Although adidas ended its collaboration with Kanye in 2022, Yeezys remain an enduring cultural force. The Yeezy Boost 350 V2, in particular, came to define sneaker trends of the 2010s, shaping design directions across the industry and maintaining strong demand in the resale market.
