HOKA

HOKA

A household name in recent years, French sports brand HOKA was founded in only 2009 by Nicolas Mermoud and Jean-Luc Diard.
Originally intended as a hiking sneaker, the brand saw a huge rise in popularity in the early 2020s with their lifestyle silhouettes as well.
Recognisable for their cutting-edge technologies and modern design, HOKA continues to grow with no signs of stopping.

Sneaker Design and Technology

HOKA's lightweight sneakers are popular with athletes across the globe due to their cutting-edge technologies. The HOKA Gaviota 5, Clifton 9 and Speedgoat 5 are especially popular silhouettes.
Engineered into the sole of the shoe, HOKA's curved Meta-Rocker keeps runners from landing flat, and propels your step forward with a boost.
The Active Foot Frame of each shoe secures your heel in place, and cradles your foot so it becomes part of the shoe instead of just resting on it, which results in increased stability and support.
GORE-TEX is also used in HOKA models, which is a waterproof yet breathable material. EVA foam midsoles provide cushioning and comfort.

The History of HOKA

Compared to established brands like Nike and PUMA, HOKA is a fairly young sneaker brand.
Founded in 2009 by french duo Nicolas Mermoud and Jean-Luc Diard, who originally wanted a sneaker that would provide grip whilst running down mountains, HOKA is now popular as a lifestyle brand as well as an athletic one. The enlarged outsole was designed specifically to allow one to 'fly' down the mountain.
Deckers Brands, the parent company of UGG and Teva, acquired the company in 2013.
