The buzz on the recently retro’d Nike Air Max 97 has been unprecedented – and with good reason. Christian Tresser’s futuristic design (apparently inspired by mountain bikes, rather than the age-old tale of high-speed Bullet trains) rocked the spot, with contours and curves that gave the shoe a true feeling of speed and momentum. The original design still looks great, but this new hybrid model adds upper the from the Air Max 97, as most prefer to call it – to dramatic effect. The flat sole on the original design of the 97 provided a solid, straightforward platform underfoot, but the contours of the TN sole emphasize the curves of the 97’s upper panels.
