In the periods before Michael Jordan’s legendary six rings run with the Chicago Bulls, a rebellious nature was prompted out of him early on when the NBA banned his black and university red Air Jordan 1 in October of 1985. This particular ‘Bred’ colourway became folk law within sports and sneakers as a shoe Jordan continued to wear despite the ban reportedly racking up fines of $5000 each time he wore them on the court, a bill Nike eventually covered.
