Timothée Chalamet Stars in adidas’ New Backyard Legends Campaign

After ping pong and basketball, Timothée Chalamet now appears to be turning his attention to football as well. The actor takes centre stage in adidas’ new Backyard Legends campaign, which brings together football culture, music, and film in the lead-up to the World Cup kicking off next month.

Alongside Timothée Chalamet, the campaign also features Bad Bunny, Lionel Messi, Jude Bellingham, Lamine Yamal, and Trinity Rodman.

Whether you like it or not, Timothée Chalamet is impossible to ignore these days (except perhaps at the Met Gala, as the New York Knicks were playing that evening). With an impressive line-up of films, including Marty Supreme earlier this year and Dune: Part Three later this year, the actor certainly knows how to keep himself in the spotlight. Even at adidas.

In adidas’ new film, Chalamet sets out to find a team willing to take on a legendary crew that has remained unbeaten for generations. Driving around in an old car, we see him gathering players one by one, with Jude Bellingham and Lamine Yamal sitting in the back seat, while even Benito seems fully focused on the sport.

With the message ‘You Got This’, adidas wants to show that football is at its best when players express themselves freely, without pressure, playing outside on local pitches. The clip blends nostalgic 1990s references with streetwear aesthetics and football icons such as Zinedine Zidane, David Beckham, and Alessandro Del Piero.

Alongside Lionel Messi, Jude Bellingham, and Lamine Yamal, players including Ousmane Dembélé, Pedri, Raphinha, Florian Wirtz, and Santiago Giménez also appear in the campaign. A cast worthy of serious admiration.

The film is now available to watch worldwide on adidas’ YouTube channel. Whether we will soon be able to buy the Chalamet kit remains unclear, though secretly, I would quite like one myself.
