Looks like the sneaker leakers were on to something! In newly released imagery from the collaborative duo, we’ve got an official look at the Stone Island x New Balance MADE IN UK 991v2. Arriving as the latest addition to New Balance’s MiU sector, the creation follows a black, grey and utilitarian colour palette. Inspired by reconfigured spaces that once served as venues and clubs, the campaign emulates the airy nostalgia.
A mesh upper references latticed metal, creating the perfect base for nubuck-coated leather overlays. Furthermore, reflective accents within the foxing seamlessly reminisce the rave age, simultaneously bringing a dynamic edge to this sophisticated model. The stylish endeavour comes encased in collaborative custom packaging – the cherry on top to these contemporary kicks.
The Stone Island x New Balance MADE IN UK 991v2 will launch globally on 18TH OCTOBER 2023 via NEW BALANCE & SELECTED STOCKISTS.
A decade after their first collaborative endeavour, the Stone Island x New Balance 991v2 is well underway. Following a cryptic image shared via the Italian fashion house’s Instagram, the design of this model has thus far been left to the imagination, at least, before we got our hands on some ‘rumoured’ imagery. The devil works hard, but the sneaker community works harder. Could this be the next ‘IT-shoe’ of 2023? Read on to see what you make of it…
It’s no secret that the Boston-based powerhouse and Stoney franchise know how to craft a solid sneaker. Just look at their roster over the years, from ice cold releases like the Fuelcell C_1 and RC Elite v2 to the 574 Legacy. With 2023 marking 10 years since the beginning of the alliance, what better time to drop something groundbreaking, like an entirely new silhouette? If the 990v series is anything to go by, then we can surely expect a visually dynamic model flooded with premium flair from the 991v2.
In recently released imagery by IG user @mpastitsio, we’ve got a glance at what could potentially be the Stone Island x New Balance 991v2. Sporting deep grey overlays over a woven base, this model feels authentic to the aesthetic of both contributors. Exhibiting what appears to be a sleek suede composition within the panelling, a streamlined persona delivers a fashionable edge, ideal for minimal styling. The grey midsole provides a stacked-like illusion, differing significantly from the v2 predecessor. Further imagery teases what may (or may not) be the woven tongue branding, conjuring a rustic flair that makes a lot of sense for an autumnal sneaker. We must reiterate that these images have not yet been confirmed by either parties, but it’s fun to decipher what could be coming our way very soon!
