ORIGINAL ARTICLE 06/06/24: Initially spotted during last year’s Nike SNKRS Showcase 2024, things are starting to heat up surrounding Nike Air Max Sunder. With imagery of two new colourways recently emerging over socials, we’re keen to get into the details of these stealthy offerings, due to land AUTUMN 2024.

If you’re not instantly familiar with the Air Max Sunder, we could definitely understand why. Brought into fruition way back in 1999, the sleek silhouette entered the scene as a cross-training sneaker. Yep, this model is far more than just a pretty shoe, crafted with an array of technicalities that allow for a smooth ride. Donning a composition of Lycra spandex upper, the silhouette pushed boundaries with a phylon midsole that allowed for optimal shock absorption and cushioning. 

Enduring a brief revival thanks to Comme des Garçons in 2021, it’s now time for the Nike Air Max Sunder to become firmly integrated back into the Swoosh roster. Paying homage to its original design elements, it looks like this re-entry may be joining Nike’s revived-archival-sneaker hall of fame.

A Closer Look at the Nike Air Max Sunder…

Displayed across two contrasting colourways of Deep Yellow and Black, these kicks are highly reminiscent of the OG. The tech, however, has been said to endure some upgrades, blending the nostalgia with a contemporary edge for even better wear. Bringing some serious 2000s steez to the table, the Air Max Sunder joins other retro Swoosh offerings like the Footscape and Air Zoom Spiridon Cage 2, highlighting Nike’s ability to transform vintage kicks into modern day hits.
